OIDCI
has by now established a long and productive
presence in Mindanao, beginning with the
UNDP-funded Mindanao Land Use Study in 1984.
It has implemented projects in Mindanao
addressing many of the region’s most
compelling issues of peace and
underdevelopment. With many of its contracts
during the last nine (9) years providing
continuing development assistance to
Mindanao up to the medium term, OIDCI is
truly rooted in Mindanao. This presence has
been transformed into a long-term commitment
to Mindanao development with the
organization of OIDCI Mindanao in 1997.
Since then, the OIDCI Mindanao has
established its own niche in the whole of
Mindanao and is now successfully and
extensively implementing projects on:
|

|
sustainable
integrated area development (SIAD); |
|

|
community organizing
and community development; |
|

|
natural resources
management and forest land use planning,
including solid waste management; |

OIDCI
Mindanao’s services focus on capability
building and strengthening of implementing
institutions, local government units (LGUs)
and community groups through developing
organizations and systems, human resources
development, and technology transfer as well
as on-the-job training (OJT) and other forms
of capacity building activities.
During the last nine (9) years, OIDCI
Mindanao has proven its capacity to handle
projects and training programs, and to
manage implementation management projects.
It has a core of six (6) in-house technical
and support staff and has a pool of senior
Associate Consultants who are tapped
regularly for OIDCI Mindanao projects and
activities. Together, they provide the vital
leadership needed to guide the institutional
development process of development and
training projects in Mindanao.
OIDCI Mindanao has provided technical
assistance for the various regional and
provincial offices of various government
agencies such as DAR, DA-BFAR, DOST, DTI,
TESDA and various LGUs in the whole of
Mindanao. It has also worked with the
Mindanao Economic Development Council (MEDCo),
and has completed an OD assessment of the
Davao City Water District (DCWD). OIDCI
Mindanao has also been successful in
providing technical and training assistance
to various donor-funded projects in Mindanao
– such as those funded by UNIDO, UNDP,
CIDA-LGSP, CIDA-LGSPA, EU and USAID. OIDCI
Mindanao is also an accredited training
service provider by the AusAID Philippines -
